A well structured awards programme encourages entrants to determine their skills, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.
Although winning an award is each entrant's goal, even if the end result disappoints, every entrant will gain from entering because it focuses the mind and develops opportunities for both the individual and business.
The Sapphires has been carefully planned to reward both franchisors and franchise salon owners, so both groups can enjoy industry applause and external business recognition.
The awards recognise the exceptional professional skills which create franchise success and the award categories reflect essential business drivers. In these times of economic difficulties, it is essential to add value to business, value which does not cost but will put you one step ahead of your competitors.
The judging process of The Sapphires in conjunction with the Franchise Development Service ensures that the results are fair. There are several aspects of the judging which include gaining marks from the sponsors, and from an independent panel of judges. These judges may not be from the hairdressing industry, but should they wish to gain some expert advice on aspects of business which relate only to running a hairdressing salon or a group of salons there are industry business experts on hand to answer questions.
In many categories, finalists are interviewed in order for the judges to ask questions of the entrant whose answers should add kudos to their entry.
Other category winners are determined by the consumer. This aspect of judging was brought in to give entrants feed back from the very people they are trying to attract to their salon.
All the marks from the various judging sessions are collated which determine the winner. Should there be a tie, we ask for those entries to be re-judged. If there is still a tie, the winner is determined by the number of first places they achieved at each judging session.
Judges are encouraged to write helpful critique against each entry so that the entrant can have constructive feed back if they require.
