Best Marketing Campaign
The judges will be looking for the company that has the most cohesive campaign taking into account all aspects of their marketing.
This could cover the branding of stationery, gowns, posters, and advertisements etc, which are relevant to the group as a whole.

1. What were the aims and objectives of the marketing plan?
2. How is the success of the marketing plan monitored?
3. Explain what guidelines are given to the franchised salons for using the material effectively.

• Copies of any other marketing material that is produced for the group as a whole.
• A list of ancillary products available that add to the branding of the salons.

Top Business Training Award
This award is about how the franchisor trains and helps to develop and monitor the franchise owner’s business skills.
The answer to EACH question below should be laid out clearly on no more than two A4 sheets. Typeface must be in 12pt.
1. What measures do you have in place to monitor whether your franchise owners are following your brand ethics?
2. What measures do you use to ensure your franchise owners follow the proven business module?
3. Describe what methods you use to aid the franchise owners future business success.
4. Show what measures you put in place to ensure that uniformity of the minimum standard of training is achieved by your franchised salons.

Best Corporate Image
This award is about the photographs used to mirror the image for all the franchised salons within the group. A number of consumers selected randomly from all age groups will judge this category.
The answer to EACH question below should be laid out clearly on no more than two A4 sheets. Typeface must be in 12pt.
1. At which age group and target market are the images aimed?
2. Why did you select these particular images?
And
• Send in 4 photographic images used to brand your franchised salons. (These do not have to form a collection).
• Photographs should be no larger than 12” x 10” portrait.
The submitted photographs must not show any branding.
Best Salon Interiors (Franchise Group)
The judges in this category will be looking to see which group of franchised salons has the most cohesive look and what elements of the design appeal to the consumer.
The answer to EACH question below should be laid out clearly on no more than two A4 sheets. Typeface must be in 12pt.
1. Send in a photograph of the interior and exterior of three of the salons in your group.
Please put the salon location on the back of the photographs.
2. List the locations of all your other franchised salons.
There will be mystery consumer judges visiting random salons within the group in order to view cohesive branding.
In addition to the photographs showing the corporate look of your group of franchised salons, list:
• Any unique features for your group not seen in other franchised salons.
• What purpose these unique features have in the running of your salons.
Franchisor of the Year
NEW RULE: The winner of Franchisor of the Year must wait one year before entering this category again.
In addition to being able to determine your expertise in many areas of franchising, and being interviewed, there will be mystery visits to a random selection of the franchised salons.
The answer to EACH question below should be laid out clearly on no more than two A4 sheets. Typeface must be in 12pt.
1. How many franchised salons are there in the group and how many are still owned by the original franchise owners.
2. What are the basic steps you use to franchise?
3. What do you see as being the main contributory factors to the company’s success?
4. List the key performance factors you use for monitoring franchise owners’ performances.
5. List the roles of individuals involved in the franchisor support team.
6. Show in graph form the growth in profit for financial years 2007–2009. Please have this signed by your accountant.

Finalists will be invited to an interview in London on Thursday 29th April 2010.
